Brush Pack by AdonhisYesterday, browsing my DA Message Center, I discovered a new interesting deviation by Dan Luvisi, known as Adonhis. He’s a talented digital concept artist, who works in the video-game and comic books industry. If you take a look at his gallery, you can immediatly see the complexity and dynamism of his illustrations, the effects he achieves and the realism of his conceptual images!

Well, yesterday he decided to share with the Artists Community at DeviantArt his own Custom Brush Pack, so that everyone can try it! This can be a great occasion to learn something new from a great digital illustrator.

In this article you will find a link to the download, an image with the brushes preview and their description by Dan Luvisi.

Video Tutorials I – Stéphanie Valentin

Stephanie Valentin - Portrait Video TutorialSince I started browsing tutorials and videos on the web, I discovered a great amount of video tutorials about Digital Painting. I find that video tutorials, if well done, can be more useful than normal written tutorials, because they show the real work in process of the author.

I think that in a good video tutorial the work in process shouldn’t be too fast, otherwise you cannot see many interesting and useful techinques. Also, I think that author comments about the steps would be really great!

I’ve decided that I’m going to start a new series of articles dedicated to Portrait Video Tutorials, where I will collect all the more interesting video tutorials about portraits that I find in the web. I’ve already posted an articles, the Hanagumori Digital Painting Tutorial, which contains video, but I prefer to took this out of this series, because it is a complete, video and written tutorial.

The Custom Brush Guide by Marta Dahlig

m dahlig brush guide 246x300 The Custom Brush Guide by Marta Dahlig The Custom Brush Guide is a Digital Painting tutorials series written by Marta Dahlig for ImagineFX Magazine.

This guide is divided in 4 Workshops:

- Skin & Hair [link]

- Fabric & Costume [link]

- Nature & Enviroment [link]

- Elements [link]

As you may see, this guide helps you to set up your own brushes (or Marta’s source brushes) in Painter or Photoshop to develop your artwork. Each article is dedicated to a different part of the artworks, so that the author can concentrate on all the aspects of that particolar subject. If you click on the links above, you will see that you can download also the source files of the articles, in this case Marta’s Brushes.

As a beginner in Digital Painting, I found these articles really useful, even because when I started working to this kind of art, I had not idea of how to set my brushes to do that particolar thing. Of course, there are many ways to paint fabric or eyelashes, but this guide can be a really good starting point for beginners, and a source of inspiration for intermediate Painters.

About the Author: Marta Dahlig is a talented and young illustrator from Poland. Art has been her passion for all her life. She’s a self-taught artist and her work fosuses mainly on Fantasy subjects. She works with Photoshop and Painter, and she’s “famous” for creating custom brushes too.
